PRIMARY PURPOSE 

The Community Resource and Volunteer Engagement, Manager contributes to the achievement of UWECI’s mission and vision by leading the development and implementation of targeted strategies to engage individuals in volunteer activities. This position oversees the Community Resource and Volunteer Engagement Specialist positions with a specific emphasis on engaging individuals aged 55 years and better. This position focuses on building and implementing strategies that drive impact and creating consistent and positive experiences for volunteers, donors, and nonprofits to allow 55+ volunteers to use their experience and skills to meet community needs. This position will be accountable to implementation and outcomes to the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) grant and other grant deliverables as needed. This position expands the UWECI footprint by growing a regional volunteer center model and building capacity of non-profits in the region to better leverage volunteers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Planning and Management of Grant Funded Volunteer Initiatives

  • Oversee the execution of the initiatives necessary to recruit, match and refer volunteers to opportunities that align with their interest, experience, and skillset.
  • Oversee and implement volunteer recognition and retention strategies.
  • Oversee the tracking and reporting of volunteer hours.
  • Develop program innovation and market segment strategies to manage and connect individuals 55 or better to volunteering.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team on the development of promotional and program materials.
  • Create annual plans and action steps needed to engage agencies.
  • Research, write, and support 55+ Initiative, and program specific grant applications as appropriate, including the RSVP grant.
  • Develop and prepare annual budget and operate within approved budget.
  • Become knowledgeable and current with changes in federal and state funding and other compliance issues.
  • Identify key metrics, accountability, and reporting that align with volunteer engagement objectives.

Promote and Support Community Volunteerism

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to build and integrate strategies to increase volunteer engagement.
  • Identify and develop volunteer opportunities in United Way focus areas and based on the workplans identified in the federal RSVP grant.
  • Lead emergency volunteer efforts during disaster in collaboration with EMA, city and county officials as the Emergency Volunteer Center.
  • Oversee Community Resource and Volunteer Engagement Specialist as they:
    • Network building: Actively seek new and key relationships to accomplish goals. Build positive working relationships with nonprofits, schools, business, faith-based, retiree groups, AARP, and other entities to further Volunteer Engagement goals.
    • Recruit and place volunteers, track and report on volunteer outputs and outcomes and implement volunteer recognition and retention.
    • Promote Volunteer Now, United Way Initiatives (Day of Caring) and other engagement programs.
    • Bring diverse groups and points of view to the table and a common agenda. Keep diversity and inclusion at the forefront when building groups.

Level of Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Education Requirement: 5+ years of related experience will be accepted in place of required degree.

Preferred field(s) of study: Non-Profit, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field.

ACCOUNTABILITY & DECISION MAKING

Make decision within the procedure and guidelines of the Community Impact Department and UWECI.  This position must coordinate and communicate with internal team members and the community and report vision and strategy to the VP of Community Impact.  Understand the priorities of the role and implement and manage accordingly.
